The sensitivity pattern of ciprofloxacin and amoxicillin in chronic suppurative otitis media

Introduction: In both poor and developed countries, chronic suppurative otitis media affects 1-46 percent of the population. The incidence is much higher in Indonesia due to various factors, including sanitation, low socio-economic nutritional status, high population density. To reduce occurrence media, an adequate treatment required. Purpose: study was identify bacteria that cause ciprofloxacin amoxicillin antibiotic sensitivity pattern Asri Medical Centre PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping hospital, Yogyakarta. Patients methods: This a prospective descriptive with 27 patients whom met inclusion criteria. Bacteria were isolated from ear secretions cultured on TSA McConkey agar medium. antibiotics tested for susceptibility, Gram staining, catalase test, biochemical test used bacteria. Results: 63 patients, among them positive-gram (52%) negative-gram (48%). causing 84% 79%, respectively. resistance by 100%. Conclusion: Staphylococcus sp Pseudomonas aeruginosa most caused at hospital effective media.
